the bauhaus heritage
Commented screening
Presentation of the life and work of my grandparents Corona Krause (1906-1948) and Hermann (Sven) Gautel (1905-1945), Bauhaus students, and my dialogue with them.
From this family heritage, I offer a particular look at the Bauhaus. This is not yet another historical presentation of this emblematic school, but an insider’s experience of the Bauhaus, through two of its students, at two different key moments, and how these “Bauhäusler” tried to perpetuate and defend their values under Nazism. As a third point of view, we add that of the grandson, an artist himself, who looks at this story and tries to establish a “posthumous intergenerational artistic dialogue”.
